In the world of herbal vaporizers there are several distinctions that help users identify what device is perfect for them. While the common distinction is by portable and desktop vaporizers, there is another category that concerns itself with the material being vaporized. Within this category, we’re looking primarily at dry herb vaporizers and concentrate vaporizers, the latter of which the Yocan Evolve Plus Wax falls into.

Wax Concentrate Vaporizer

As a concentrate vaporizer, the Yocan Evolve Plus Wax will not work with dry herb and can only be filled with cannabis wax or concentrates. Design and Features

Unlike the majority of herbal vaporizers, which take on a more boxy shape, the Yocan Evolve Plus Wax more closely resembles an e-cigarette, lending it a sense of unique portability. The device itself measures in at 120mm x 19mm and is constructed to be sturdy and robust in the hand. This isn’t to say that the device is heavy, rather its construction feels quite solid in the hand and there shouldn’t be any issues with the device falling apart after regular use.

In addition to its construction, the Yocan Evolve Plus features some clever design choices that allow the device to be used in stealth situations. The pen-like shape of the concentrate vaporizer gives it a somewhat unassuming appearance that could easily be mistaken for a large pen or tool, instead of a cannabis vaporizer. This may not be a concern to the majority of herbal vapers, especially those that live in a country that allows for marijuana consumption, but it's a nice feature of the device that is sure to draw in users who care about discretion.

Finally, we’re going to take a look at the internal features of the device. First and foremost, the Yocan Evolve Plus comes equipped with a performance-focused dual Quartz coil, allowing for thick plumes of flavourful vapor, and an incredibly potent hit. The Quartz coil is somewhat unique to this device and greatly affect the performance of the Yocan in a positive way. Working alongside the Quartz coil, is a threaded coil cap that confines the concentrate inside the atomizer and helps maintain the ambient temperature around the coils for even and effective heating. It should also be noted that the Yocan Evolve Wax does come equipped with a 1100mAh battery, that can be charged via a micro USB port on the base of the device. The base of the Yocan also comes with a silicone lined dish, allowing users to keep extra concentrates if necessary.

QDC Technology

The defining and key aspect to the Yocan Evolve wax vaporizer is its innovative QDC technology, or Quartz coil. The key difference with this coil, is its use of quartz instead of traditional fiber wicks. The use of quartz allows for a more pure flavour, while also preserving the potency of the wax or concentrate.

Getting Started with the Yocan Evolve Wax Vaporizer

While not entirely complicated to use, properly operating the Yocan concentrate vaporizer can make all the difference when vaping. First, make sure your Yocan device is fully charged for optimum results. Charging the device can be done by connecting the micro USB cable to the port on the bottom of the device and connecting it to a computer or a wall socket adapter. A small red light will flash once the device is plugged in, meaning the battery is still charging, and once the red light goes out, the vaporizer is completely charged.

To turn on the device, simply tap the fire button five times and wait for the LED to light up to indicate it is on -- pressing the same button five times again will shut off the device, and should be done whenever the device is not in use. Once you have turned the device on, take off the cap, unscrew the atomizer, and load the chamber with whatever herbal concentrate you plan on using. We recommend placing wax and other concentrates directly on the coils, but be careful to not contact the coils with whatever instrument you are using as to not damage them. Finally, reassemble the pieces and you should be good to go.

While the Yocan Evolve wax vaporizer doesn’t come with adjustable temperature control settings, the preset and fixed firing option is perfectly tuned to provide the best experience possible. The device should offer the best vape for both concentrates and wax, and when fully charged, it should offer thick and flavourful plumes of vapor.

Cleaning Your Yocan Evolve

As with any kind of herbal vaporizer, regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure that it performs at its absolute best. Thankfully, the wide open chamber on the Yocan Evolve makes cleaning easy, though some attention to detail must still be placed as to not damage any components and to effectively clean the device. To clean your Yocan Evolve, first start by heating the chamber to burn off any existing residue that may be on the coils or in the chamber. The best way to burn off residue in the chamber is to repeatedly feather the firing button, while occasionally blowing on the coils to cool them down slightly. Once the majority of the residue has been burnt off, take a Q-tip and lightly clean the walls of the heating chamber. Make sure the chamber is somewhat hot when doing this as the walls may be sticky if the chamber is cool.

For a more in-depth cleaning, you can purchase specific vaporizer cleaning tools, as well as a solution to clean off stuck on wax and concentrates.

The concentrate used must be highly viscous or solid. There is no resevoir for liquid - simply an exposed coil, with an airflow valve underneath. Thin oils or liquids will flow through the coil, and leak out of the device.
